Joint Committee Annual Report

At the JC meeting on February 2nd , the following priorities were established for the year:

  1. Resolve the issues with Outfall #2
  2. Ensure we have adequate reserve / contingency funding
  3. Maintain the level of standards across the community (attractiveness)
  4. Progress the North Tower Pool parking lot project
  5. Control costs / reduce expenses

A consulting engineer has been contracted to inspect the entire length of Outfall #2 and recommend any needed maintenance or repairs to the Harbor Cove side of the property. Additional corrective actions or upgrades are dependent on the outcome of the current mediation process between the multiple parties involved.

An updated reserve study was completed and submitted at the beginning of the year, which will be a key input to the 2025 budgeting process.

Several landscaping renewal and replacement projects are on the schedule for this year, including the areas around the main entrance monuments as well as many of the bermed areas along the main spine roads.

The North Tower Pool parking lot project design is being revisited after receiving updated proposals that were significantly higher than the original budget. The design requirements are being reviewed with the city engineer, and other paving techniques are being reviewed with the design firm. A title search has been completed on the property, confirming legal ownership by the BRRA/NRA.

Repairs have recently been completed to the North Tower Pool deck coping, and the pool will be ready for opening day on April 1. The operating hours for the pool will be modified, with closing time at sunset to comply with SC DHEC requirements. Proposals are being solicited to upgrade the deck lighting to meet the DHEC guidelines for safe night swimming.
