On June 4, the City of North Myrtle Beach closed on the purchase of 7.24 acres of land from Hillside Development, LLC. The purchased property is part of the popularly known Ingram Dunes site, which was comprised of 9.35 acres. Hillside Development owns the remaining 2.11 acres on existing Strand Avenue where seven single-family homes are to be constructed.

The purchase price for the 7.24 acres was $2.5 million. The purchase was possible due to a $1.4 million donation from the family of Charles Ingram, and an additional $1.1 million made up of $500,000 from the City and $500,000 from the S.C. Conservation Bank, and $100,000 in private donations.

The Mayor and City Council thank all concerned with this purchase for their efforts and contributions. The City will schedule and announce a celebratory event for all to mark this accomplishment.
