Council Meeting September 18, 2023
Under New Business items C, D, E, & F were as follows:
C. Ordinance/First Reading: Petition for Annexation and Zoning Designation for +-70.78 acres at the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 31
D. Ordinance/First Reading: Amendment to the Barefoot Resort Planned Development District (PDD) creating Barefoot Lakes
E. Second Public Hearing: Regarding the amendment to the Barefoot Resort PDD Development Agreement creating Barefoot Lakes
F. Ordinance/First Reading: Amendment to the Barefoot Resort PDD Development Agreement creating Barefoot Lakes and to authorize the City Manager to sign the document on behalf of the City
Mayor Hatley advised the council would take items C thru F together and opened it to discussion from the council and accepted a few resident comments. There were dozens of Barefoot residents in attendance regarding the Barefoot Lakes Development and several commented about the following: Lot and House sizes, not having two access roads to the development and home styles that were not comparable to the homes in Cedar Creek community creating a devaluation in property values due to the planned smaller lot and house sizes.
Councilman Trey Skidmore raised concern about the lot and house sizes as well as the need for a second road to access the new development. Skidmore made a motion to send the matter back to another workshop to review these concerns, motion was seconded and passed. No date has been determined for the workshop, however, the mayor indicated it would be advertised on the city website.
The Mayor thanked everyone for attending the council meeting and having such a full house to discuss issues of concern.
Respectfully submitted,
