Traffic Committee Annual Report

September 1, 2020

– Scott Slater, Committee Chair

During 2020, the Traffic Committee worked in conjunction with the Neighborhood Watch Committee to ensure traffic related issues in Barefoot were addressed in a timely manner.

The Committee provided information and recommendations to the Board regarding the acquisition of radar-based LED speed signs as well as other road-related safety issues. While the Board decided to delay the purchase of the signs, two of these devices were later purchased by the Joint Committee and installed on the “spine roads” in the community.

The Traffic Committee continued to work with the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety to maintain periodic patrols in an effort to reduce speeding throughout Barefoot.

In 2021, the Committee will continue to stay abreast of traffic related issues and pursue other means of controlling the number of drivers not obeying the posted speed limits in Barefoot.
