~ Judy May, 2025/2026 Cabana Chairman

The Barefoot Resort Residential Owners Association Beach Cabana Committee had a very busy year in 2025! We began the year welcoming new committee members Annette Rauzi, Lucy Tsoukalas, Richard Zdanowicz, Carol Stamey and Diane Shimborske. Beverly Livezey, John Tomasko and Judy May served the second year of their terms. Judy May was elected to chair the committee for 2025, and Annette Rauzi was elected secretary.

At the first meeting of 2026, the Committee re-elected Judy May as Chair.  Annette Rauzi was nominated and again agreed to serve as Secretary. Judy May and Beverly Livezey applied to serve additional two-year terms. The Committee extends its gratitude to John Tomasko for his participation as he fulfilled his term at the end of 2025.

We reviewed the Cabana Rules and Regulations. Ponderosa Management communicated Cabana rules and shuttle information prior to each busy summer holiday to help with adherence to rules. New parking stickers were issued in 2025 in a bright coral color. We had a problem with some stickers fading, so any resident experiencing this is encouraged to bring the faded sticker to Ponderosa Management for a replacement. The printer has provided 1000 additional stickers to us to help with our supply.

Additions to the Beach Cabana this year included new lounge chairs and umbrellas for the second floor. New, more efficient ice machines were installed. The front and rear gates were replaced with sturdier ones, and a bump-out was built in the walkway to the beach for easier rinsing of feet and beach equipment. The bump-out also spared having to have the shower sand pits cleaned so often – a significant cost savings. New pedestrian walkways were built in the middle parking lot, providing better access for everyone, and beautiful new landscaping was planted. Parking lot bumpers were installed in the front parking lot, and ceiling fans were replaced on the first floor. A new beach wheelchair, donated by the Adaptive Surf Project, is now available at the Cabana. Kelly White of Ponderosa Management kept the Committee informed of Cabana maintenance and we thank her and her staff for keeping the Cabana in top operating order.

In 2025, the Committee sponsored two corn hole tournaments – spring and fall. We also sponsored two DJ Happy Hours – spring and fall, and added a new activity, an ice cream social with Mr. Softee, in the spring. We had wonderful participation and feedback from our owners. Thus far in 2026, the Cabana has hosted Sunrise Yoga and a Mahjong Tournament in the first quarter. We are looking forward to more events at the Cabana in 2026.
