HTC Contract Renewal

HTC Contract Renewal…?

In 2011 each individual Association within the Barefoot Resort Residential Owners Association entered into what is known as a “bulk rate service agreement” with HTC. Bulk rate service agreements allow individual Associations to enter into a contract in an effort to receive the best possible rate for services provided as compared to “street” rates. The current HTC agreement will expire on December 31, 2017.

The Barefoot Board of Directors along with community volunteers from the Multi-Family Unit complexes and Voting Members have met with Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) representative Don Hovis, Manager of Residential Sales.

Mr. Hovis has committed that the current contracted rates will not increase.

The Board has also met with Spectrum. You may see Spectrum personnel onsite throughout different areas of the community. Spectrum is in the process of investigating the layout of the community in order to determine the installation of its equipment. Spectrum has notified the Board that it will be able to offer a proposal by the end of April.

Associations/Neighborhoods may elect to remain with the current services being provided or may elect to increase services. Your community Voting Member will be contacting the owners in your community in the coming months to ascertain which types of services work best for your particular community.

If you have any questions, please contact your Neighborhood Voting Member/Alternate, a Board Member or your Community Management company

HTC Internet Speed Bonus:

HTC has committed that with renewal the bandwidth speed will be increased dramatically at no extra charge.  The current bandwidth speed is 10×2 (download speed up to 10 Mbps / upload speed up to 2 Mbps). That's megabits per second.

The new speed would be 75×5 – a huge increase. New modems will be required, which HTC would deliver to all neighborhood owners.

More details coming.
