Successful Season for Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Barefoot Residents

The Pelicans season came to an end in September, as the club finished the season with their seventh straight playoff appearance, which ties a Carolina League record. The 2017 season was the 19th season for the Pelicans franchise and third as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Barefoot has a great relationship with the Pelicans and 23 times during the past season Barefoot residents were able to enjoy Pelicans baseball in the comfort of a luxury suite at the ballpark.

Gandy Henry, the Pelicans Community Partnerships Manager, had this to say about the Pelicans relationship with Barefoot:

"The Myrtle Beach Pelicans greatly appreciate the support we have received from the Barefoot community over the course of our franchise history. I have personally enjoyed working with Tom Reeder and the Barefoot board over the past two seasons to grow participation and create memorable luxury suite experiences at the ball park. As we enter our 20th anniversary season, we look forward to continuing the relationship and having the residents out at the ball park and thank the community for their ongoing support of the Pelicans."

Barefoot residents used the luxury suites at the Pelicans games for family and friend get togethers, neighborhood gatherings and various other outings. There were also several Barefoot nights where residents from all neighborhoods could get tickets to enjoy the game with new friends and neighbors.

Longbridge resident, Melissa Ward, brought a group of parents and young children to enjoy an outing in the luxury suite. She said the experience was: “Amazing! It was convenient to not have to worry about the little ones wandering or being in the way, plus if it felt too warm outside we could just step inside to the air conditioned luxury suite.” When asked whether she planned to reserve a suite again in the future she said: “Absolutely! We plan to make it an annual end of school celebration! We loved it so much that my husband used it as a work get together for his dealership a few weeks later!”

Both Anne and Melissa said that they would definitely encourage Barefoot residents to take advantage of this wonderful Barefoot activity.

Reserving a Pelicans luxury suite is for the entire Barefoot community to enjoy high quality professional baseball in the air conditioned comfort at a significantly reduced price while having a fun time with their family, friends and neighbors.

Additional information about the 2018 season will be published as it becomes available so keep watching the Barefoot website for updates.
