Black History Month Exhibit will be featured at North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum

North Myrtle Beach, SC – The North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum will host a new exhibit commemorating Black History Month, February 8 through March 2.

The exhibit will feature the work of local artist Beverly Hill. Ms. Hill showed an early interest in art beginning in the first grade and continues to pursue this passion. Her early work showcases notable people such as Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Harriet Tubman among others. Hill's work is primarily in charcoals. Currently, Hill is seeking a degree in culinary arts at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

The exhibit will also include "Harriet's Legacy", a handmade quilt in honor of Harriet Beecher Stowe, an abolitionist instrumental in organizing the Underground Railroad. Each quilt block is an actual symbol used to guide slaves on their arduous and dangerous escape from slavery. The quilt was made from local quilter Kate Landon. Make plans to stop by the Museum to view the Black History Month exhibit. The Museum's current hours are 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Thursday through Saturday. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for students, military and seniors and $3.00 for children aged five to 12, free for children 5 and under. Free admission for Museum Members.
