Barefoot Annual Clothing Drive

DECEMBER 1, 2017

– sponsored by the Barefoot Caring Council

Hello Barefoot!

The 29th Annual Community Christmas Day Dinner is just around the corner! This year, over 7,500 free meals are expected to be served on Christmas Day at the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, the Risen Christ Lutheran Church, and the Belin United Methodist Church. In addition to a wonderful Christmas dinner and great fellowship, gently used clothing items will be available to those in need. For several years, the Barefoot Caring Councils has sponsored a clothing drive to support this event.

In the past, we have requested donations of coats, but this year, the Community Christmas Day Dinner Group has requested donations of gently used clothing items (any season), blankets, shoes, pocketbooks, in addition to coats! They also need new toys for children who will be attending Christmas dinner this year!

The Barefoot Caring Council is calling all (single and multi-family) residents to help with this project! It’s a great time to clean out your closets, knowing that the items you donate will make someone very happy on Christmas Day!!!!!

Several residents have volunteered to be drop-off locations for this year’s donations. Just select a location and time that is most convenient for you!  Drop off points and times are as follows:

  • Mondays: Nancy Gosiewski, 5206 Windy Pines Drive, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Tuesdays: Linda Ort, 5112 Windy Pines Drive; 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Wednesdays: Gwenn McDaniel, 4909 Stonegate Drive; 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Thursdays: Charlene Dougherty, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Fridays: Gwenn McDaniel, 5909 Stonegate Drive, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Also, check with your Barefoot Caring Council or BRRA Lifestyle Committee representative to see if there is a more convenient location within your complex.

We are asking that you fold all clothing items and blankets and put them in plastic bags. Please put shoes and pocketbooks in separate bags. Leave new toys unwrapped and there will be a box at each house for them.

The cut off day is December 15th!!

Items will be delivered to the Greek Orthodox Church on December 18th. If you would like to help deliver the items on December 18th, please call Gwenn McDaniel at 843-315-8926.

THANK YOU for supporting this project! Our donations will put smiles on many faces Christmas Day when people select items that they need or when a child receives a new toy to brighten his/her day!

Sincerely,

Gwenn McDaniel & Charlene Dougherty
