Beach Cabana & Western Boundary Wall Update

BEACH CABANA UPDATE

~ From the BRRA Board of Directors ~

The Beach Cabana project is moving along again and we’re on schedule. We have three well-qualified bidders. They are Dargan Construction, FBi Construction and Baldwin Construction.

On Thursday, November 12th, we met with the bidders to respond to questions after they reviewed the Request for Proposal (RFP).  Unfortunately, heavy rain prevented us from visiting the Beach Cabana construction. However, on Wednesday, November 18th , the weather allowed us to go to the construction site for further clarification.  This meeting provided an opportunity to closely assess the current construction and review the staging facilities.

In terms of the actual design, the City of North Myrtle Beach rejected the cantilever deck on the Beach Cabana leading from the enclosed area on the first floor. The reason for this was due to the fact that the new Beach Cabana is built right to the property line. Even though the deck is a cantilever deck and does not impact the dunes, it would extend past the property line by 5 feet. While the City initially approved the design, it is now a dead issue.  We are all very disappointed.

The bids from the construction companies listed above are due on Wednesday, December 9th . We’ll take a couple of days to carefully review the submissions and invite each bidder to explain their proposal.  The decision to award the bid will made following the December 9th meeting.

WESTERN BOUNDARY WALL UPDATE

The RFPs for the Western Boundary Wall were sent to three bidders.  We received the Bids on Friday, November 20th. All bids are being reviewed for content, presentation, cost, and schedule.  Once the Bid review is completed by the members of the BRRA Board of Directors, a Town Hall Meeting will be conducted via Zoom to present the findings.  The next steps include a presentation of the easement documents to Water Tower Road residents followed by the official award.
