BRRA Board Election

The Barefoot Resort Residential Owners Association, Inc. is approaching the time in which it will elect four members to serve on the Board of Directors. The terms of Joseph Gosiewski – Single Family Village, Michael Atwood – Multi Family Village, along with Lester Jee and Dennis “Denny” Suckstorf representing the Director at Large positions, will expire on December 31, 2017.

About the process…

Interested candidates should be aware that the Board of Directors meets monthly; it is sometimes necessary for the President of the Board to call for additional meetings when needed. Each Board member is also asked to serve as a Board liaison to one or more of the Association’s Committees.

Barefoot Resort is divided into two Villages for the purpose of electing Directors to the Board so as to ensure fair representation on the Board. One Village consists of all Multi Family home communities and the other Village consists of all the Single Family home communities. The votes held by the Golf Courses are divided up as well. The Dye Golf Club (15 votes) is part of the Multi Family Village and the Barefoot Public Course (45 votes) is part of the Single Family Village.

It does not matter in which Village the Director at Large owns property. 

Candidates must declare which Director position they are running for…

Those interested in serving on the Board must declare which Director position they are running for at the onset of the election process. They may either run as a Board Member representing the Village where they own property or as a Director at Large. A candidate can only run for one Director position. For example, an owner that owns property in both a single family home community and a multi family community cannot run for both Villages. The owner must make a decision as to which Village to run for, or if the homeowner wants to run for the Director at Large position.

Votes allowed per household…

For this election, owners in a Single Family community will cast one vote for nominees running for the Single Family Village Director position and two votes for nominees running to serve as the Director At Large positions. Owners in a Multi Family community will cast one vote for nominees running for the Multi Family Village and two votes for nominees running to serve as the Director At Large positions. As outlined in the Association’s governing documents, the closing date for candidates to submit the Board nomination form is September 18, 2017.

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please complete the  Board Nomination Form and submit by Monday, September 18, 2017. Nomination forms cannot be accepted after September 18, 2017. Nomination forms can either be mailed to the address below, faxed to (843) 399-1761 to the attention of Chrissy Trevathan, or emailed to ctrevathan@pm-llc.com.
