A HURRICANE WATCH issued for your part of the coast indicates the possibility that you could experience hurricane conditions within 48 hours.
This watch should trigger your family's disaster plan, and protective measures should be initiated, especially those actions that require extra time such as securing a boat, leaving a barrier island, etc.

A HURRICANE WARNING issued for your part of the coast indicates that sustained winds of at least 74 mph are expected within 36 hours or less.

Year-to-date application approval rate is 98% approved.

Name and Purpose of the Committee

The Barefoot Neighborhood Watch Program was established in 2009 following the Highway 31 wildfire that caused 2500 residents to be evacuated in the middle of the night. More than 100 homes were damaged in Barefoot alone, of which 69 homes were completely destroyed.

Benefits

Barefoot Neighborhood Watch is a program which –

• Creates a body of concerned, involved neighbors.


• Encourages neighbors to get to know each other and their routines and to recognize any out of place activities.


• Emphasizes the importance of being aware of suspicious activities and sounds, evaluating them and knowing how to properly communicate this information to the authorities and within Barefoot if appropriate.


• Teaches techniques to reduce the risk of being victimized.


• Advises how to make homes more secure, to accurately identify property, and how to look out for each other.


• Fosters a partnership with the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety.

Permacast was on site the week of April 25.  They completed a number of repairs across the entire length of the new wall.  Based on their previous visit on March 3, Permacast put together a comprehensive repair plan.  The repairs primarily focused on the lower support blocks which support the wall panels at the bottom column interface.  Failure of these support blocks have caused some of the wall panels to drop towards the ground.  In addition, minor repairs were made to the panels themselves to patch cracks and chips in the concrete panels.
